Home of Free Speech:
EcoSlogan Contest!
I'm looking for a few good slogans about climate change for my next tour...

Slogans should be short, smart, fit well into a rectangle, and look good in traffic. Winner gets a thousand dollars and, hopefully, launches the meme that saves the world. Second and third place is $500 and $250, and all three will have their words displayed up and down the west coast. Original work is preferred but not mandatory, and apart from the right to post them publicly, I will make no claim to any submissions as intellectual property. Send entries to freewayblogger - at - yahoo - dot - com. Deadline is March 15th.
"I don't know what utopia will be like exactly, but it will have bicycles." -Frank X. Barron

(Signs posted in Berkeley Feb. 1st and 4th.
Quotes by alumni and faculty of UC Berkeley.)
"We are so much the victims of abstraction that with the Earth in flames we can barely rouse ourselves to wander across the room and look at the thermostat."
-Terence McKenna
"Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite." -John Kenneth Galbraith
"We are all atheists about most of the gods that societies have ever believed in. Some of us just go one god further."
-Richard Dawkins
"I hate banks. They do nothing positive for anybody except take care of themselves. They're first in with their fees and first out when there's trouble." -Earl Warren
"The optimist thinks this is the best of all possible worlds. The pessimist fears it is true." -J. Robert Oppenheimer
"Freedom of speech is something that represents the very dignity of what a human being is. If you cannot speak… I mean, that’s what marks us off. That’s what marks us off from the stones and the stars." -Mario Savio
"Failure is not a crime. The crime is not trying." -Ron Dellums

The two signs above are the work of another frequent contributer to Bay Area freeways. While they haven't freed him yet, this person has kept Leonard Peltier on local's minds long after the rest of the country has forgotten.
